Contemporary Psalms

8-14-13

My hope has [been] uprooted like a tree... [but] I know that My Redeemer lives, and He shall stand at last on the earth.
Job 19: 10b, 25

O God, my God, what a mess mankind has made on all the earth! Systems of every kind are failing as a consequence of following the dictates of our human hearts rather than  following You.  Now we see that the Tower of Babel has once again been built, and we who are in Christ remember the plight of that first Tower which fell down, and so did the people who had built it, who fell into divisions and separations that could not be repaired  -- like Humpty Dumpty!

Here we stand here afar off, Your people, watching and waiting as the inevitable unraveling begins to unfold. We see that history has, once again, repeated itself -- tat\ the arrogance of the human spirit has convinced unregenerate man that "we can do, we can do..." Forgive them for they know not that it is all impossible without You.

Help us, LORD Christ, to stand fast as we see the Tower crumbling, and to know we are not uprooted, even as everything starts crashing to the ground. Strengthen us to know we are rooted in You and held there by Your power. We live in You, Who lives and Who shall stand at last on the earth to rule and reign.
