Contemporary Psalms

7-8-13

Return, we beseech You, O God of hosts; look down from heaven and see and visit the vine and the vineyard which Your right hand has planted and the branch
that You made strong for Yourself...
Psalms 80:14-19

Father God, when we forsake You, there are consequences! But You do not leave us, even as those consequences unfold. You are with us in the troubles, in the trials, in the fires, in the floods. We are Your branches; help us return to Life n the Vine. You allow everything to turn to gravel; You allow hardship; You allow adversity to wake us from our spiritual slumber, into which many of us have fallen -- fast and deep.

You are shaking us now, yet many slumber still, dreaming dreams that can only lead to the recreation of Babel towers and a return of Babel sounds. Help us hear You, oh God Most High. Break through our drunken stupor, our dangerously deep sleep.

Awaken Your stiff-necked, slumbering people, oh God. Cause many who do not see or remember You or Your Word Made Manifest.  We have forsaken You --sometimes deliberately, other times because we simply do not know Your Word, Your Will, Your Way.

Reveal, oh God, that many may see and revive and return, humbling ourselves as clay before The Potter. Make many Vessels of Your Mercy! Awaken us from our slumver and sleep. Case Your people to see and to return -- to turn back to You.

Revive us, and we will call Your name. Restore us, O Lord God of hosts; cause Your face to shine, and we shall be saved. Flow in us, through us, from us! Pour into Your vessels the Love and Light that is needed here in this vale of error and sin and woe. Turn us back, oh God, to You! Lead us back to Your Son-Lit pastures of safety, freedom, and joy.
