Contemporary Psalms

7-12-13

O God, will You not judge [those who come to throw us out of Your possession which You have given us to inherit]? For w have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us, nor do we know what to do,
but our eyes are upon You.
2 Chronicles 20:12

Almighty and Most Merciful Father, we come before You in Christ Jesus and by Your Holy Spirit, Whom You have imparted to us by grace. We see that we have erred and strayed from Your Ways, finding ourselves horrified by the deteriorating situations all around us. Freedom is being eaten alive, bit by bit -- Freedom, which is Your greatest gift after Your first great gift of Life.

Thank You for revealing that we have been hoodwinked. Melt our hearts with compassion for one another, for we knew not what we were doing. It is as though the wool was pulled over our eyes. Like this sweet pup, we simply could not see -- or hear very well, for our ears were muffled.

We now find ourselves in the Land of Feeling Good, which is not the same safe place as the Kingdom of God. I can hear that "good" has two "o's" in it and sounds like this:

"Oh oh!"

Your Name, oh God, sounds like this: "Ohhhhhhhhhhh!" We stand is awe of You, asking You to forgive us, Lord, and lift the wool from our eyes and ears! Defeat the deceptions that so cruelly trick us away from You wearing camouflage that makes it look like a Good path, but is a ruse leading us into error. May we arise, seeing the army that is arrayed before us, and may we SING and PRAISE You, oh Holy Most High. And then,I pray, that we will see that enemy army fallen, faces down, on the earth. Until that day, and after it, we raise our voices loud and high and shout a great "Amen" !!

This photograph is by Rachael Hale, whose Animals as Art just plain soften my heart! This one, entitled Who Turned the Lights Out? is of Oscar, a 12-week-old Newfoundland pup, who was left in the dark -- briefly -- just for enough
time to capture this wonderful image.
