Love Notes

Based on Ezekiel 27:1-28:26, Psalm 129:1-4, Proverbs 28:26, Hebrews 12:1-29.

Dear LORD and Father of mankind, by Your Holy Spirit I lift up my heart to You this day, reading in Your Word Writ that everything which is choice and luxurious and embroidered will fall into the midst of the seas, for people have been lured into thinking they have the heart of a god. LORD, I have a friend whose mother used to say, "It is not a wise thing to play GOD." Yet here we are, our hearts lifted up to worship the Life of the Mind, in as much saying, "I am a god; I sit in the seat of gods..."

Today You say to us, "Yet you are  a man and not a god..." Yes, You want us to participate in the stewardship of our  world, but always seeking Your wisdom in so doing. We seem to have forgotten that our wisdom depends on Yours, that we need to consult with You for Your guidance and perspective as we formulate our plans. This we have forgotten and/or set aside, GOD, lured ever so gradually away from Your Presence. We elevate our wits too high, though we know it not. Today,Your proverb said, "He who trusts in is own heart is a fool, but whoever walks wisely will be delivered."

O GOD, You have told us not to refuse Him who registers us in heaven, the Mediator of the new covenant, yet the nations choose to refuse Your Love and Light. Therefore, we persist in building Towers of Babel which You say You will shake in order that the things which cannot be shaken may remain. Thank You for bringing us into Christ in whom we cannot be shaken. We are grateful to be partakers of Your holiness, to be assembled with the church of the firstborn before You, the Judge of all, with the spirits made perfect by Jesus, the Christ. O earth earth, earth, hear the word of the LORD who says, "See that you do not refuse Him."
