Luke 9:2-6
He sent them to preach
the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. And He said to them, “Take nothing for
the journey, neither staffs nor bag nor bread nor money, and do not have two
tunics apiece. Whatever house you
enter, stay there, and from there depart. And whoever will not receive you,
when you go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet as a
testimony against them. So they departed and went through the towns, preaching
the gospel and healing everywhere.
Our LORD emptied Himself and had nothing all the days
of His earthly life, consequently He was free for God to lavish His gifts
through Him to others…We have to get to the place about which Jesus talked to
the rich young ruler, where we are so absolutely empty and poor that we have
nothing, and God knows we have nothing. Then He can do through us what He
likes. Would that we would quickly get rid of all we have, give it away till
there is nothing left, then there is a chance for God to pour through in rivers
for other people.
