Gathering in Christ

Luke 11:42-52
Woe to you Pharisees! For you tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs and pass by justice and the love of God… Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like graves which are not seen, and the men who walk over them are not aware of them… Woe to you also, lawyers! For you…have taken away the key of knowledge. You did not enter in yourselves, and those who were entering in, you hindered.

… The mainspring of the heart of Jesus Christ was the mainspring of the heart of God, the Father… Speaking from the heart does not mean refinement of speech merely; sometimes Jesus Christ’s speech sounded anything by nice to natural ears -- for example, Matthew 22….

Some of the words He used, and some application He made of His truth were terrible and rugged… Jesus Christ did not speak as a man there. He spoke as the Master of men, with an absolute knowledge of what the human heart is like. That is why he so continually pleads with us to hand the keeping of our hearts over to Him.
