Contemporary Psalms

9-13-13

...they were defiled by their own works and played the harlot by their own deeds.
Psalm 106:39

O God, cause us to realize and repent of the ways in which we have rebelled against Your Spirit, unwittingly serving idols, including our  "good works" that have become snares to us. We have even sacrificed our sons and daughters, shedding their innocent blood in the name of "rights" we do not have.

You tell us that Your people perish for lack of knowledge, and we already see the desolation that is coming forth because we have forgotten You, O God of our salvation and have not been mindful of You, Who desires to be our Rock.

You also tell us that You will lift up a banner and that, we who belong to You, will see it; and that, when You blow the trumpet, we will hear it and be brought to You, O LORD of hosts. Therefore, we make it our aim to be well-pleasing to You: i Christ, dying daily to self; surrendered to Your Power by the Holy Spirit; glorifying Christ before You, O Father, as new creations, ministers of reconciliation, ambassadors for Christ Who knows no sin to be sin for us that, in Him, we might become Your righteousness.

This posting is based on Psalm 106, Isaiah 17-18 and 2 Corinthians 5. The photograph above is from a Facebook page called Live Life in Color.
