Contemporary Psalms

4-17-13

Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve.... But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
Joshua 24:15

We clap our hands, oh God, and we shout to You with the voice of triumph, for You are the Lord Most High, and You are awesome, the Great King over all -- including all the earth. We sing Your praises, oh Triune God: Most Merciful in Meekness and Might! We sing Your praises with understanding ... (Psalm 47:1-7).

Thank You, Lord, for explaining it all -- for splaying it out before our human eyes! You have found a way to depict the utter hopelessness of the human condition minus You. Thank You for portraying that agony and regret can be unceasing, both now and forever, but that we have a choice. Thank You for showing those whose choose to refuse that not choosing is a choice.

"Choose for yourselves," You say to us. And as many as will choose You will reply, "As for me and my house, we will serve You, Lord" (Joshua 24:15). You are a jealous God. If we forsake You, You will shut the door to many who will shout, "Lord, Lord, open for us!" And You will answer and say, "I do not know you..." (Luke 13:23-35):

Oh Lord, I pray that You will reveal Your Kingdom Life to all who are not yet surrendered to Your Will, Your Way. Be both Savior AND Lord, I pray, before the shutting of the door. Open eyes to see any an all counterfeits that would detour or delay entrance into Heaven at this time of the last days; open ears to hear You say, "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, but you were not willing! See! Your house is left to you desolate, and assuredly, I say to you, you shall not see Me until the time comes when you say, 'Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!"
