Contemporary Psalms

1-15-13

Who is man that You have set us into partnership with You, oh God? But You have done it, that we might bring to You all our cares and concerns, our hopes, our burdens, both little and big, and simply lay them at Your Feet, placing them into Your watch and safekeeping. What a gift it is to see that, most of the time, that's what we need to do. It is plenty, and I thank You for the relief it brings. It's as though You are saying "Don't just do something; sit there!" and be in Your Presence, watching and waiting, rising only when You say so to Do.  It has been challenging to discern my "doing addiction" and even now it hard for me to resist the pull of Doing instead of Being with You and waiting for Your leading in some way beyond the bleachers. Until then, Lord, let me cheer heaven's help from the bleachers and learn to recognize and renounce my cravings for productivity and measurable results. Intercession is much more important than many of us have appreciated, but here it is in Your Word. Thank You for the confirmation by giving me this scripture TWICE this morning. Sweet connections!

What is man that Thou art mindful of him and the son of man that Thou visitest him? For Thou hast made him a little lower than the angels and hast crowned him with glory and honour (Psalm 8:4-5).
