God Sendings

The Edge of Sleep

In my dream, the Princess was dead, but “they” were keeping her alive and, somehow, getting away with concealing her inability to function by propping her up. Over and over again, they had her making appearances that way – propped up and dragged out for pure show. Down the hall, someone was vacuuming cockroaches out of a hair-styling salon.

Then there’s an aspect of me in the dream – me, of all people, ending up being chosen to have a date with the Prince. For some reason, I am being flown in (like an insect – a fly on the wall?) to have this date, but everything starts conspiring to make me miss out on this choice opportunity. Some friends arrive unexpectedly, and they are bearing gifts such as food and enticing tickets, so I am late in getting dressed. Meanwhile, the evil friends of the Princess manage to prop her up, so she goes on the date instead.

The feeling of the dream is that there’s a ruse going on, a ruse that is mean and sinister. The ruse itself was evil and cruel in the dream – not so much the “they” who were carrying it out. but the ruse itself. I believe the dream was saying there is no substitute for the real thing. My sense was that anyone can be invited to meet the Prince, but it’s awfully easy to be detained instead.

  1. One thing is for sure the mainline denominational chuches are dead but are propped up by all kinds of social programs and paraded to the public as true to God religion. It is evil in as much as well meaning people spend their lives going to these churches and never have the opportunity to respond to an invitation to receive Christ because of the "all are saved' mentality. We have to be careful of worldly distractions or we will miss our "date" with Christ. The cockroaches are most likely all those necessaries that distract us from our daily walk. !!

  5. Yay, you did it! I am impressed -- maybe now you will become of a presence on this here thing! Meanwhile I am investigating a "url address" for us -- and to answer your question, none of the picture is Roobie. It was sent to Roobie by a friend who had pups. Isn't it sweet?!

  6. Janet hit the nail on the head. My thinking exactly. Great dream.
I don't get dreams like that. Last night, I dreamed that I had an otter as a pet. Lovely cuddly thing - one of the nicest dreams in a long time. :)

  7. I just bought a birthday card that had a photo of an Otter wearing sunglasses, and inside it said, "Happy birthday to someone who is not like all the Otters (that's a compliment you know)! Also, I have a wonderful poem called Otter by Mary something-or-other which I will send you via e-mail. It will make your day, plus it will assure you that you DO get dreams like this I cal them "God Sendings." Thanks, sister in Germany, for checking in to share on my fledgling blogspot -- your participation is very encouraging!
