Job 1:12
And the LORD said to Satan, “Behold,
all that [Job] has is in your power…”
…When Jesus
Christ talked about discipleship, He indicated that a disciple must be detached
from property and possessions, for if a man’s life is in what he possesses,
when disaster comes, his life goes too (see Luke 12:15). When a man is hit by
undeserved destruction, the immediate result is a slander against God -- “Why
should God allow this thing to happen?” There are people today who are going
through an onslaught of destruction that paralyzes all our platitudes and
preaching; the only thing that will bring relief is the consolations of
Christ.
