Ecclesiastes 9:3-4
There is an evil in all
that is done under the sun; that one thing happens to all. Truly the hearts of the
sons of men are full of evil; madness is in their hearts while they live, and
after that they go to the dead. But for him who is joined to all the living there
is hope for a living dog is better than a dead lion.
It is a haphazard life, and
we have to bank on God’s wisdom, not on our own… A Bohemian is careless about
everything, and neither Jesus Christ nor Solomon teaches that. Jesus Christ
taught that a man is to be carefully careless about everything except his
relationship to God. The great care of the life, Jesus says, is to make the
relationship to God the one care. Most of us are careful about everything
except that.
