Romans 5:8-9
…God demonstrates His own
love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much
more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath
through Him.
…redemption enters into our
lives when are upset enough to see we need it. At the wall of the world stands
God with His arms outstretched; and when a man or woman is driven there, the
consolations of Jesus Christ are given. It is not necessary for every man to go
through these agonies, but it takes a time of agony to get the shallow
skepticism knocked out of us. It is a good thing to be reverent with what we do
not understand. A moral agony gives a man a second wind, and he runs better
after it -- and is a good deal more likely to win.
