What is your definition of religion?
My computer’s definition is, “The belief in and worship of a superhuman
controlling power, especially a personal God or gods … a pursuit or interest to
which someone ascribes supreme importance (e.g., consumerism is a new religion).
By this definition, I posit that Political
Correctness is, now, a new religion. I experience it personally because, when I do not accept
what is currently considered “PC,” I am denigrated at least. Iy feels,
at times, like being surrounded by Thought Police, especially after a PC definition has
morphed into a completely new meaning. What once meant Respect for diversity is no longer what Political Correctness stands for -- now it means Don’t offend anyone -- ever
-- which is an entirely different thing.
I notice that Global Warming
has also morphed -- now it means Climate
Change, a subtle schmoozing away from facts that are now showing evidence of
Global Cooling. Orwell called this Newspeak
-- gradually revising the language ever so slightly to fit changing circumstances, lulling the people into aligning with Big
Brother’s way of thinking.
Today, if you dare to disagree with what is presently considered PC, you
are called an extremist and likened to radical Islamists with whom they
disagree.
Really?
How then is Political Correctness
that very different from Sharia Law?
In the United States today, I experience Political
Correctness as the State religion, and as a worldview that is being imposed against the freedoms supposedly guaranteed to each person by the American Constitution.
Just saying…
