Proverbs 20:27
The spirit of a man is
the lamp of the LORD, searching all the inner depths of his heart.
Soul is the expression of man’s personal
spirit in his body [self]. Spirit
means I, myself, the incalculable being that is “me,” the essence that
expresses itself in the soul.The immortal part of a man is not his soul, but
his spirit. Man’s spirit is as indestructible as Almighty God…
Soul is the expression of spirit in the
body; soul has not existence apart from spirit and body. Immediately the body
goes, the spirit returns to God who gave it, and soul is not. The resurrection
is of body, not of spirit or soul. Spirit is the immortal, indestructible part
of a man, and it goes back to God who gave it with all the characteristics that
marked it while it was on this earth.
