Comfort for
God’s People (continued)
My elect shall long enjoy the work of
their hands. They shall not labor
in vain, nor bring forth children for trouble, for they shall be the
descendants of the blessed of the Lord, and their offspring with them. Before they call, I will answer, and
while they are still speaking, I will hear (Isaiah 65:22-24).
You who tremble at His word, know that
your brethren who hated you shall be ashamed. For thus says the Lord, to His child: “Behold, I will extend
peace to you like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing
stream. Then you shall feed. On her sides shall you be carried and
dandled on her knees, as one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you, and
you shall be comforted in Jerusalem (Isaiah 66:5;12-13).
They shall not prevail against you for I am
with you, says the Lord, to deliver you (Jeremiah 1:19). I cannot hold my peace because you have
heard, oh my soul, the sound of the trumpet! (Jeremiah 4:19).
Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord
and whose hope is in the Lord. O
Lord, the hope of Israel, all who forsake You shall be ashamed because they
have forsaken the Lord, the fountain of living waters (Jeremiah
17:7-8:13). You are my hope in the
day of doom (Jeremiah 17:17). Blessed are
those who keep His testimonies, who seek Him with the whole heart (Psalm
119:1).
[Be commended for] your patience and
faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that you endure. By them you will be counted worthy when
the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in flaming fire,
taking vengeance on those who do not know God and who do not obey the
gospel. When He comes in that day,
our Lord will be glorified in you and you in Him (2 Thessalonians 1:1-12).
Now brethren, concerning the coming of
our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you not to be
shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as though
the day of Christ had come. Let no
one deceive you by any means, for that Day [the Day of the Lord is not the same
as “our gathering together to Him] will not come unless the falling away come
first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and
exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshipped so that he
sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God (2
Thessalonians 2:1-4).
He who waits on his master will be honored. May the Lord direct your hearts into
the love of God and into the patience of Christ that we may be delivered from
unreasonable and wicked men, for not all have faith (2 Thessalonians 3:1-5).
The people who survived the sword found grace in the wilderness
(Jeremiah 31:2). I will cause them
to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way in which they shall not
stumble. Their souls shall be like
a well-watered garden. For I will
turn their mourning to joy, will comfort them and make them rejoice rather than
sorrow (Jeremiah 31:9-13). And
they shall come back from the land of the enemy; your children shall come back
(Jeremiah 31:16-17).
Lord, Your word has given me life, for the proud have me in great
derision, yet I do not turn aside from Your law (Psalm 119:50). Be diligent, and you shall have enough
goats’ milk for your food, for the food of your household... (Proverbs 27:27).
