Contemporary Psalms

5-16-13

He sends forth His Word and heals them and rescues them
from the pit and destruction.
Psalm 107:20

The woman at the well led many to come and hear You speak, Jesus, and many believed You. Even the man whose son was dying believed that You had healed the boy, and only later learned that You actually had healed at the very hour You spoke it. So... if I'm hearing this correctly, the first sign was that the man believed what You said; the second sign was when he believed Who You Are: The Christ. God, You not only saved the son's physical life, but also granted Life in You to the entire household.

Help us, Lord, who belong to You, rise up and NOT BE AFRAID to "come out of the closet" as Your people -- people who know You personally; people You call "Mine." Strengthen us to proclaim in this broken Babylon world that all the yearnings of the human spirit, all our visions, all our myths have already been made manifest in You, our Messiah, the Christ, God's Son, slain for our inherited sin and resurrected from the prison of darkness  and death to live and  rule and reign in our hearts. Spirit of God, arise! Stand up all whom You have healed and rescued! Speak Your Word forth from us, in order that You will heal and rescue many beloveds from this earthly pit of destruction. I thank You, in advance, for You watch over Your Word to perform it. Therefore I know this prayer will not escape Your notice!
